Great storytelling, an unfortunate Frenchman, and the fate of his boys

HARLEM — Let me reiterate. I haven’t seen nearly enough good movies — or television shows — over the last year to know anything about anything. That said, I’d have a hard time believing that there’s a movie out there that does more in 4 minutes, 21 seconds than “Up.”

Sure, the rest of the movie is not nearly as good as this one elegant sequence. But don’t let that take away from the enjoyment of watching some very talented storytellers share their beautiful work.

They make it look easy here. We all know it’s not.

***

For those disappointed with my above sappiness, here’s a French skier screaming like a girl after smashing his nuts into a metal gate. The play-by-play guy is money. Best line: “Wow, the boys took a beating on that one.”

They sure did, partner.
